Common questions
"Find nearest" or the blue dot does nothing
The app needs location permission, which it only asks for when you tap ↺ Locate or 🔭 Find nearest…. If you previously declined, enable it in iPhone Settings → Bench de Soleil → Location. The rest of the app works without it.
The map is grey / benches don't load
Usually a connectivity issue — check the phone has internet and isn't on a captive Wi-Fi sign-in page. The map recovers on its own when the connection returns.
A bench is in the wrong place, gone, or missing
Tap the bench (or long-press an empty spot) → Report a problem. Reports are crowdsourced: when enough people independently agree, the map corrects itself, and corrections are passed to OpenStreetMap.
How accurate is the sun/shade?
It's a best-effort estimate from building, tree, and terrain data plus a cloud forecast — not a guarantee. Use your own judgement; reality wins.
